Off The Record is an organization founded by leading venture capital funds across the US to support venture backed startup founders. The OTR program facilitates CEO peer groups, organizes industry events, and is often cited as a leading founder network. 


The City Manager is the face of our organization to both the venture capital and startup community in Los Angeles. 

About the Role:


Reporting to the Executive Director, this individual will be responsible for leading our initiatives in Los Angeles. The City Manager will build and maintain relationships with investors, partners, industry organizations, and service providers with the goal of sourcing high quality applicants, executing marketing campaigns, organizing events, supporting participating founders, and growing our community. 

Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with Senior Leadership on community engagement, events, and partnerships

  • Lead marketing strategy, including but not limited to content, events, and PR

  • Act as key point of contact to manage and respond to partner and company inquiries 

  • Research and gather information on local industry opportunities and trends

  • Participate in founder selection, pod assignments, and onboarding process

  • Launch and prepare founders to successfully participate in forums

  • Stay in close communication with our key partners and external stakeholders

  • Develop partnerships with local venture and startup institutions



  • Must have relevant experience in a platform, community, events, or marketing role

  • Must have relevant experience working with venture capital and startups

  • Strong experience in hosting events, content marketing, and partnerships

  • Exemplary communication and organizational skills 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency


This is a part time position ideal for a candidate currently working in venture capital, accelerators, startups, or related organizations. The position will enable a successful candidate to build their platform and network, while working with leading industry players and receiving dedicated support from the Off The Record organization.
