Marketing Associate Intern

Off The Record (OTR) is an organization founded by leading venture capital funds to support the founders in their portfolio. Running a startup is a unique challenge and OTR helps venture-backed founders support each other in a comfortable and confidential setting. 

Off The Record currently has over 100 startups founders and partnerships with 65 of the world’s best known venture capital firms. We are expanding quickly with new chapters across North America and a variety of innovative initiatives to benefit our community. 

The Opportunity

Off The Record is looking for a highly-motivated and tech-savvy marketing associate who is passionate about people, technology, and innovation. Working closely with the Executive Director, the marketing associate will be tasked with developing and executing strategies to recruit new founders, investors, and executives to the program. 

An ideal candidate would have a background in marketing and sales including designing marketing emails, executing marketing plans, hosting webinars, researching contact information, and creating detailed engagement reports. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, careful attention to detail, is process-oriented, is highly proficient with technology, and is always looking to improve. Off The Record is at an inflection point for acceleration and there is a huge opportunity for career advancement as the organization grows.


What you’ll be doing

  • Onboard new members and assign them to new or existing ‘founder pods’

  • Design email campaigns, host webinars, conduct office hours, and facilitate phone/email conversations with members to support their onboarding

  • Maintain relationships with venture capital partner firms to drive engagement and referrals

  • Track email engagement and logins to design data-driven communication strategies

  • Use CRM tools to track and update the progress of operations

  • Use design tools to create eye-pleasing marketing materials, 1-pagers, and content for email campaigns

  • Support members via phone and email, ensuring a seamless experience

  • Work collaboratively with the executive team and board of directors 


What's required

  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, sharp focus, and the ability to flourish in both independent and collaborative settings

  • Experience in digital marketing or sales

  • A great deal of initiative, resourcefulness, and sense of ownership

  • Advanced working knowledge of G Suite, especially google sheets and slides

  • Adaptable learner with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to prioritize and perform effectively in a highly dynamic work environment

  • Effective at leading and facilitating meetings, webinars and workshops

  • Proficient at being prescriptive and driving action-oriented meetings

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate conflict and foster honest dialog

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is always looking to improve on processes/results




This is a paid position. Compensation is commensurate with the position’s requirements and the applicant's experience. Compensation includes:

* Performance bonus

* Unlimited vacation time
